Photo Competition Winners

First prize

Mrs Billie Anderson, from Crawley.

Billie wrote,

"The photo shows my family at a Buddhist festival where one of the things that is done is the lighting and sailing of small boats made of banana leaves, flowers, incense and candles.

These represent our prayers offered to God. Our kids made their own boats with the help of a Lao friend, and then we went down to the banks of the Mekong with many others to take part.

We felt quite happy to join in despite being Christian rather than Buddhist, giving our thanks and prayers to God. The Lao were welcoming and encouraging.

We are living in Lao where we work for the Christian development charity World Vision. We have been here for 1 and a half years."
